The Preventive Safety marker band serves as a clear warning indicator to anyone performing undesirable excavation work above a pipeline and clearly signals the location of and dangers related to the pipeline.
The Preventive marker band is installed in the ground 40 cm above the pipeline to be protected.

Operation

The marker band has a layered structure. Its upper layer is a high visibility yellow protective plastic sheet, with black warning pictograms. The type of pictogram used is specified by the customer. The lower layer is a sheet of geotextile. Between the marker sheet and the geotextile sheet there are two specially insulated twin strand cables (DW 131 S) laid out in a sine wave pattern. The top and bottom layers are held together by special two sided adhesive strips.

Once the pipeline has been laid, the trench must be filled with 40 cm of covering. The marker band is then laid out directly above the pipeline. Even in locations where the pipeline is installed at greater depths than normal (under roads, rivers, etc.), the marker band is still installed at 40 cm above the pipeline.

To simplify the installation of the marker band in areas filled with water, the band has 5 mm holes cut in it in certain places. The holes occur every 7 cm crosswise, and every 13 cm lengthwise. These holes make it easier for the band to be submersed in water.
