DW 131 S - Preventive Safety Insulated Cabel

Characteristics

  • 2 conductive strands
  • 0.75 mm2 diameter
  • 300 meter long distance
  • High tensile strenght
  • Sine wave layout within a high visibility marker band

The goal of the DIWICON-S preventive safety system is to detect and help localize activity occurring above a pipeline. This is achieved by installing a preventive safety cable along the entire length of a pipeline.

Operation

The marker band has a layered structure. Its upper layer is a high visibility marker sheet and the lower layer is a sheet of geotextile. Between the marker sheet and the geotextile sheet are two specially insulated twin strand cables (DW 131 S) laid out in a sine wave pattern. 20 cm of insulated cable (DW 131 S) extends from the ends of the marker band (DW 135 S), for repair and connection purposes.
Connection options:

  • Passive joint
  • Active joint unit (DW 137 S)
  • Carpet junction cable (DW 239 S)

After being connected with active or passive elements, the cable strands must be sealed with resin filled heat-shrink tubing. The preventive safety marker band (DW 135 S) is not installed in locations where the pipeline crosses roads, rivers, or bridges.
At such intersections the insulated cable can be installed in two ways:

  • The insulated cables are glued to the pipeline which then receives a protective covering
  • The insulated cables along the pipeline are installed in a protective piping of their own)
